Is the Penateuch a Small People?

Deuteronomy stresses that god chose the israelites in spite of how small they were as a people, smaller than their neighbors. El: Even if you thought the text was exaggerating the size of israel at the time, that wouldn't show that the exodus never happened. An actually neutral world view would not prejudice the question one way or the other. And there is evidence that miracles occur, both in the ancient world and to ayso we should be open to them happening in the exodus.
