The Wartime Experience of the Princesses
Elizabeth and Margaret were sent to a secret evacuation space at Windsor Castle. The princesses wore their siren suits when the sirens went off during World War II. They lived in a castle, it wasn't the same as many evacuees suffering great poverty being sent away from home. Their parents were Buckingham Palace staying there so that they could visit different parts of London. There was a lot of fear for them just because they were princesses.
