Is There a Better Option Than the Orion Drive?
If there is a better option than the Orion Drive, we will be using it to get to Alpha Centauri. We've had some successes with fusion, including some recent ones producing more energy than put in for ignition. I am optimistic we'll have working fusion this century. However, if practical fusion doesn't get invented 20 years from now, but instead 200, I would still expect the Orion interstellar vessel to be waiting on the drying board or only deployed as an unmanned probe and prototype.
