You should almost always be able to find them on line. Sometimes someone'll be a legitimate practitioner, but they're on probation for something pretty groady. Almost all the licenses are just on this one centralized site called california breeze. It won't tell you if they have complaints against them. A complaint is just considered hearsay until it's investigated.
