The Paradox of Crowds
When you are physically part of a crowd, you're not psychologically part of. People seek out the center of the crowd and feel safest even when it's dangerous. This psychological sense of safety with others who are in group can lead you into danger. So there are some paradoxical effects where what is a psychological good can be a public health problem.
