The Patel group was able to demonstrate that the metabolites that these bacteria produce were very different between the two groups. And so there were certain small chemicals that the bacteria in the gut produced that were present at much higher concentrations in patients who recovered and were essentially missing in those who had progressive failure. There's also been other studies about the relationship with the gut microbiome and even other diseases, whether it's Parkinson's or hypertension's or others.
