I was told you'd see old footage or pictures of New York like in the 40s or something. It's like, where is everybody? This looks like Cleveland. Well, I heard the street so empty. It's either New York in 1940 or Cleveland today. They're all trolley dodging. No SUVs with their half their tires propped up on the curb to God. The first sentence in the first paragraph of the book is like, hey, this guy bunny died and we killed him. So the book opens like the first thing that happens, the thing that makes it an inverted detective story slash why done it slash catch up. Or a Greek tragedy or something.
