He not only that jack valente directly created the movie rating system the pgr Are that was jack valenti's creation and that was not done to protect anybody That was a mechanism of censorship because if you didn't hit a certain rating You weren't going to be putting certain theaters They would put restrictions on where rated r movies could be and they knew that if you got a rated r movie You were going to get half the exposure and ifYou got a pg movie This is at least in the early days how this worked
