The Struggles of David to Becoming King

Second Samuel deals with the struggles David faced to become king. Saul and his son are dead, but that doesn't mean David is free to take over without oppositions. The rest of the kingdom was under the control of Ishbaal, a surviving son of Guess Who Saul.
