The job to be done framework says that you shouldn't think about competition n terms of the tools that you're using in the same category. All these tricks that might be employed deliver the outcome that the customer desires, they should be considered as a competitive set. Therefore, your local handiman is competing with black and decker or bosh as far as what the customer needs to do to get their job done. Understand the circumstances that people make decisions on,. realizing that they're highly constrained, and then offering a solution that might be completely opposite to what is considered to be the right answer at the time.
