The Thermic Effect of Feeding

The thermic effect of feeding or Tef is influenced by the macronutrient content of meals. A quarter of dietary protein ingested may be utilized as heat and ultimately not necessarily absorbed. So it's generating heat, generating thermogenesis in the process of digestion. For large meals that may be 700 calories or over it could be up to 5 to 6 hours. That there is a post-prandial energy expenditure response to that meal.
