The Skepticism of the Founding Fathers
The founders did not have a very generous or optimistic view of how political life and regimes in the old world were going to carry on. And I think in large measure, that skepticism has proven out to be true. It became very easy for Americans to say like, well, you know, we're just, not only are these other places kind of irredeemable and stuck in a regime loop That is now intensifying to a degree that threatens us.
