How to Choose the Right IV for Your Child

It really depends on the child so around I would say even eight that might be a little bit young but I actually assess the maturity of the child. If they've had multiple surgeries they can kind of tell you yeah I prefer an IV however if it's like their first time getting surgery I start around 9 to 11 years old or older than nine to eleven years old for to ask about IV placement. For kids who have M.A. Tris malignant hyperthermia risk you want an IV that's obvious right and if they just cannot tolerate it then I will go to plan B which is nitrous oxide or PO sedatives to be able to facilitate the IV placement.
