Is There a Difference Between Lisp and Cpu?
In lisp, you don't have arrays. What you have are pairs. And any of the two elements in the pair can be either an atom, which is yuknow, a number or a word. A single lisp command may take many, many machine instructions to implement. But making the language very simple is really what gives it the power and giving it the ability to represent incredibly complex things.
