The Relationship Between Religion and the Denial of Death
The mere reminder of death in our minds increases our need for reminders about community, material, goods, religion. People who have a high death anxiety have been shown to be more religious. Sex becomes more aversive to people who are reminded of their own death. There's a link between this and becoming more materialistic.
