There's these recurring patterns in the stories that we like as people. And once you learn that as a novelist, that gives you a leg up. I talk in the book about max martin, the swedish hit doctor. He makes sure that with any song, part of the chorus is in the first verse or in the introduction. So by the time the chorus comes, that's already familiar. You'vealready heared it before. It's not this radically new thing. That's what makes them so valuable as craters. They understand how to balance these things.
