Cicero's Response to the Fall of the Senate

His oratorical skills are that good that he managed to convince the Senate of the threat of the Catalan conspirators. Cicero doesn't spend long in exile and he returns by popular demand really a year later. There's always been more on Pompey's than Caesar's side but he sort of has a love-hate thing with Caesar. But over time I think he feels like everything's just falling apart and so he withdraws much more into his philosophy.
