David Brown: In 1844, John Quincy Adams threatened to end slavery if it wasn't abolished. He says the threat reignited a long-running feud between Jackson and Adams. When Jackson read what his friend said about him, he thought it was "hilarious," Brown says. The two men were friends for more than 40 years before their friendship ended in death.
