The Deep Mystery Of Existence

Eckhart Tolle: Essential Teachings

CHAPTER

What You Call a Tree or Dismiss That an Oak

When you become aware of yourself, as I said, as the underlying awareness and so this perception and there's presence. Then meets the eye. You can then also sense that there's an inherent aliveness in that tree that transcends what you see with your senses. By calling it tree, you create the illusion that you know what it is. And if you completely believe in every label that the mind creates, you begin to inhabit a dead universe. The concept has replaced the realization of the actuality of that mystery. So don't inhabit a world of labels. Experience the world beyond that. Know yourself who you are myself beyond any mental label, any conceptual reality.
