The Importance of Ideas in History
"I don't think I finished it all the way through," he says of Peter Ziam's book. "It just strikes me that he says things with this unbelievable confidence as if it's absolutely unquestionably true" He gets wrong to a large extent, because he rejects the role of ideas in history, which is the core and why countries like Israel can't be explained based on their geography or Russia by personality worship. The idea among authoritarians, but not only among neoconservatives, that war is a good tonic for people who are trying to give back has been stupid and barbaric, according to him.
