I grew up in san diego. My parents came from iron in the mid seventies to san diego, and then a i was born in 79. And so at home, we spoke farcy. There are persian rugs everywhere. We ate persian food, you know. She insisted that we follow the traditions of the culture and respect our elders. I think it led to me feeling like an outsider no matter where i was, cause i'd never quite belonged. In a way, i think that feeling of never quite belonging has come into is one of my super powers,. It's very easy for me, even as i become more popular or successful or whatever, to imagine
