The far right is attempting to find that paternal voice in their life. It's what Lacan calls the name of the father. And for a variety of reasons, they're selecting badly. Outrage is engagement. Anger is engagement. Thoughtfulness isn't really engagement. Play isn't reallyengagement. But it's dilettantism in a way that's good for young people, but it's bad for brand loyalty.
