The Natural State of Water

Aristotle was convinced that everything had a sort of natural state. Galileo, quite a few years later, worked out that actually the natural state of something was just to keep going in whatever it was doing. And the same goes for temperature. The natural state of water is not cold. If it's insulated, the naturalState of water is just to stay whatever temperature it's at. So why is it at this temperature in the first place?
