Fate Condensed Is the Best System for Single-Session One-Shot RPGs
I think Fate is the best system for single-session one-shot games that I have seen. Index Card RPG brought up by Runehammer Games is a really interesting take on D&D. The idea is that you can sort of drop these cards on the table and sort of build out your world in pieces like this.
