The Origins of Artificial Intelligence
The term artificial intelligence was coined by an American called John McCarthy in the 1950s. A lot of people very much wish he'd chosen another term because artificial sounds fake and who wants fake intelligence? The idea of being able to get machines that can navigate the human world is a bit like jigsaw puzzle fitting rather than health fitting. I think it literally was shaky.
