John Sutter: Nitrogen is one of the biggest causes of greenhouse gases and farming. He says it's used to produce methane, which consumes about two % of the world's energy. And then you spent all that energy and fossil fuels to create this nitrogen fertilizer, he says. "It's just this huge carbon footprint all just to grow our food," writes Sutter.
