Don't start with the ask. Don't bury it under a 700 paragraph email that they're not going to read. Be clear in the second paragraph, but tell them something about what you appreciate. Do your research. Read the book, listen to the podcast. Show up early, have your notes ready and don't be distracted. And if you need more time, ask for it, and then b ok If you don't get it.
