How to Reduce the Impact Viability of a Ceramic Blast

If the impact velocity is actually below what they call the ballistic limit of the ceramic, or maybe the dwell period is long enough to permit enough stress to build up that could exceed the yield strength of the projectile. Then you'll basically get a fracturing in sort of a conical profile of the ceramic. And at that point, the bullet is able to penetrate. Well, and especially since, obviously, with a plate of armor, you can take a few shots in different spots. It's fine if that single thing fails as long as you don't get shot in the same spot twice.
