Law 8: Make other people come to you, use bait if necessary. Napoleon Bonaparte made everyone nervous on the island of Elba. The Austrians plotted to kill him but decided it was too risky. As Elba's king, he had been allowed to form a court. There was a cook, a wardrobe mistress, an official pianist and a handful of courtiers. All this was designed to humiliate Napoleon - and it seemed to work. But bad winter led to events so strange they might have been scripted in a play.
