The Origins of Self Service Developer Portals
The idea for a self service developer portal came from two individuals in COVID's network engineering group. They found it difficult to continue working effectively over the internet, and didn't have the right tools at the time. A newly hired managing director saw a lot of value in consolidation and automation that would set us up for bigger and better tasks. So being able to create a templodized system to get teams to the cloud sooner was really our goals from beginning.
