If you put like tens of thousands of satellites up there, and they all crash in to each other, then we could basically cover the whole earth in junk. If low earth orbit is filled with junk, it makes it impossible to send a rocket up there because it's just going pelted. And so you need to be really careful. Currently there's a whole office where people monitor satellite n near misses and try to get them to avoid each other. But that gets expedentially more complicated as you get more satellites.
