The Importance of Music in a Culture
I often play certain music when I'm in certain geography so that I can recall the geography through the music. It's a little bit in this book that when I drive Wilshire Boulevard in LA, that my entire childhood is inscribed along the way. And it gets me to think about places like society, Hill or in Philadelphia or independence, where African-American people were raped. What it brings me to is also thinking about people who had attachments to places and that those places and their often public spaces are a race or their attachment is broken in some very often profit driven way.
