What Is Consciousness?
consciousness as a subject of scientific study was really delegitimized for most of the 20th century. This actually is a fairly young science, and there's still some fundamental questions in terms of where consciousness is happening or processed in the brain. "Once you understand scientifically a subject, you don't have to keep writing books on it," he says.
