The Mimamsa Theory of Meaning

Bhatsuhari asks us to consider the fact that the individual words of a sentence pass away, as they are uttered. The word giraffe has already come and gone by the time I get to the word kitchen,. This means that the words cannot come together to give rise to a united meaning because they do not all exist at the same time. Despite his holistic approach, Bhatsuhari also has much to say about the grammatical features of individual words.
