It's hard to understand debates about some principles like starry decisis, the idea that we respect existing precedents, without considering the context in which those debates are happening. And similarly, something i think your book does really well is high light how we can't understand the politicaln of the constitution and some of the compromises that were made  without understanding the political context of the time.
