The moment when the challenge feels too big, kind of seems like the moment that optimal work becomes more of an exercise for the true self. If a person reacts to optimal work with resistance or self sabotaging and forgetting it always, I think that's a good sign that it was a manager that brought them to optimal work in the first place. The real work that we do each day can be really approached in a new and better way in a way that builds our real self.
