The Limitations of Mental Health Evaluations in Preventing Mass Shootings

This chapter explores the limitations of a mental health evaluation as a tool to prevent mass shootings. It discusses the importance of understanding individual grievances and providing appropriate help, as well as assessing access to weapons and intervening accordingly. The chapter also highlights missed opportunities in identifying potential mass shooters and argues for a more effective centralized process for gathering and acting on information to prevent violence.
