The Mycenaean Invasion of Greece
The invaders from the north sacked and burned the Mycenaean cities around 1120 BC. They overran Greece, continued on eastward through the Hittite Empire in Anatolia to Egypt where they were defeated by Ramses III. The domino effect that had been set in motion contributed to waves of mass migrations throughout the Aegean and Eastern Mediterranean. After their defeat by the Egyptians, these northern invaders were generally lost to history but left total devastation in their wake.
