The Origins of the Iron Age Brocks

Scotland's Iron Age brocks are unique, constructed largely between 500 BC and 0 BC. They were multi-purpose structures that would have towered over the surrounding landscape. Duntell is one of the most impressive brocks still standing in Scotland - at some places it reaches a height of 10 metres. The origins of brocks are debated, but likely goes back to the end of the preceding Bronze Age when climatic deterioration forced communities to adapt.
