Denver's STAR Program Expanded Again
The STAR program pairs a mental health clinician and a paramedic to go out on non-violent, mostly mental health calls that they get to 911. The idea is to connect with someone in a mental health crisis and then hopefully get them off the street or out of that situation so they don't have to be helped by STAR again. "I think we could fundamentally change the way this city looks from a humanitarian perspective," says Mayor Michael Hancock.
