Komo was the person with whom this song became associated, although thankfully for all concerned, he made no further rock and roll records. It's notable that the trade magazines advertised Komo's version of Kokomo as a rock and roll record. This was in very early 1955, after Rock Around the Clock had been released but well before it became a hit. But Rock and Roll was already a phrase that was in use for the style of music at least among the trade magazines.
