Alzheimer's, Is It Caused by Amyloid Protein?

There's been some controversy around targeting this amyloid protein. And its role in Alzheimer's disease was proposed about 30 years ago. The previous drugs didn't work because they prevented amyloid buildup, but what they didn't do was remove amyloid. This drug, lecanumab, and the last one, a jucanumab, which was controversially approved for administration here in the U.S., are the first two drugs to actually remove amyloids.
