South Korea turned to the international monetary fund, the i m f, for help. That didn't sit right with many south koreans. Some felt like their country was being colonized all over again. Tens of thousands of our fellow citizens have taken jewellry and other items out of their drawers to donate or sell to banks and civic and mediam organizations.
