The Importance of John the Baptist
Most of Jesus's early teachings are just borrowed from John. It's John who first talks about the kingdom of God and baptizes people, which Jesus does as his sort of first action after his ministry starts. Herod Antipas, the same Herod that Jesus spends most of his life building a city for finally arrests John and executes him. And it's only at that moment that Jesus then returns to Galilee and he doesn't return alone.
