When Chaim Bloom was hired by the Boston Red Sox to replace Dave Dombrowski, that was a very purposeful hire. Andrew Freeman signed Mookie Best to that huge deal. The discipline to let a player go can be so difficult, but it's so much better for your team. You are trying to get the philosophy of the Rays and applying it to a larger revenue, larger payroll team.
