The Importance of Minerals in the Transition to Clean Energy

A transition to clean energy is dependent on rare earth minerals and full disclosure, but my husband is a utility scale solar power engineer. Our military does too. Smart phones would have more dropped calls without tantalum capacitors and cobalt based cathodes in their lithium ion batteries. Bridges buildings and pipelines would not be as strong without vanadium and other alloying elements in their steels. Medical MRI machines would use more energy and produce or quality images without helium cooled, niobium based superconducting magnets.
