The Assassin
Booth hated Lincoln. Booth was raised in a slave holding background. He considered Lincoln vulgar. After shooting Lincoln dead, Booth escapes on horseback. Twelve days later, he is cornered in a barn in Virginia and faces his final curtain. Refusing the opportunity to surrender, he calls to the Union soldiers that he would prefer to come out and fight. The nation is left reeling by the death of its leader. On the 4th of May, Lincoln is buried in Springfield. At his grave site, a bishop says: hushed is thy voice, but its echoes of liberty are ringing through the world.
