The white Lotus category jumped this year, forcing out other potentially worthwhile nominees in the process. It's almost as if the sheer quantity serves as a permission slip that you don't have to hunt around the margins to the degree that you used to. So voting for these things becomes just checking boxes. The show couldn't say, we're only putting Will Sharp and Michael Imperialia up for this award. Why not? Well, the actors have every right to submit themselves to be considered. And so you enter into these strange things where it's not like Alan Ruck, I don't think, has been nominated before and deserves it. Everybody deserves it.
