The united states of america enjoyed some good luck in avoiding the re-election of donald tro any event, that really shook me. i said in my book of essays, well, i'm still an optimist, but i'm a shaken optimist. I'm a chastened optimist. And so you know, will there be a need for struggle? Yes. But is there realism in thinking that through intelligent, persistent, collective effort, we can create a better united states of America? Yes. That's where i am at this moment.
