There's a number of things that don't quite ring true about the whole account. I find it hard to believe that it was really just five men crossing across this bridge against the entire arm. And I can't believe that he wrote about the bridge collapsing if it was based on his own account. These obviously weren't very well-constructed bridges, I gotta say. That is so unlike so much that I know about Octavian... He gets injured, but he gets back up again.
